World Alzheimer’s Day

World Alzheimer’s Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness and highlighting the challenges
faced by people living with dementia. It’s a day for people to demonstrate how we can overcome
these challenges and assist individuals with dementia.

With nearly 50 million individuals living with dementia worldwide, dementia is one of the most
pressing issues we face. To overcome this obstacle, we must work together and collaborate in
order to exchange best practices.

Alzheimer’s disease is a disease that affects memory and other mental functions over time. It is
the most prevalent type of dementia, characterized by generalized memory loss and other
important cognitive abilities that interfere with a person’s everyday life.

Since the campaign began in 2012, World Alzheimer’s Day will be celebrated for the tenth time
this month. According to earlier surveys, two out of every three people in the world have little or
no knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia in their own nations.

By learning more about dementia and understanding changes in memory and behaviour, you
and your loved ones can feel empowered to reach out for the help and support you need.
This month, we’re encouraging everyone to know the signs and symptoms of dementia so they
can get the right diagnosis and support as quickly as possible.

Dementia can cause a number of different symptoms. Here we explain some of these changes
and suggest practical ways to manage them.
